Sajjangad Fort

Sajjangad

Sajjangad Fort, Maharashtra is located 17 kms west of Satara at an elevation of 900 meters above MSL.

The fort had been established in the 14th Century CE by Bahamani kings. During 16th and 17th Century CE it came under Adilshah and Mughals before being captured by Chatrapati Shivaji on 02 April 1663.

It’s also the final resting place of Santh Samarth Ramdas (1608 – 1681 AD).

The fort ramparts offer breath-taking view of surrounding areas, hills and valleys – including that of Urmodi Dam, its catchments and Kaas Plateau.

One could include Ajinkyatara fort (Satara) and Kaas flower plateau in the itinerary while visiting Sajjangad.
