The Amber (Amer) Fort is located in Ambikeswar, 11 km north of Jaipur, Rajasthan.
Built in 1592 CE by Raja Man Singh, the Palace / fort complex was expanded and renovated over the next 135+ years until 1727 CE – when the capital was moved from Amer to Jaipur by Raja Jai Singh.
With 4 courtyards, gardens, advanced water management systems, and numerous buildings spread over more than 60,000 square meters, Amber Palace is an architectural marvel!
The key attractions inside the fort complex include Sila Devi Temple, Suraj Pol, Chand Pol, Ganesh Pol, Public Audience Hall, Administration Hall, Sheesh Mahal, Sukh Mahal, and a number of residential quarters.
The fort is connected with Jaigarh Fort through a fortified tunnel (underground), as well as a passage above ground.
