Koodal Azhagar Temple, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, is located 1 km south-west of Meenakshi Amman Temple.
Built by the Pandya kings in 8th century CE, the Temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams. The Temple was renovated and expanded later by Vijayanagara kings and Madurai Nayaks.
The key feature of the Temple is its Ashtanga Vimanam above the Garbha griha, with 3 levels that we can access, where Vishnu is seen in three postures – sitting, standing and reclining.
An amazing Temple!
