Subramaniya Swami Temple, Tirupparankundram, Tamil Nadu is located 7 km south-west of Meenakshi Amman Temple.
Revered as one of the six Arupadai Veedu Temples of Lord Murugan, this is a rock-cut cave Temple dating to 6th century CE, built by Pandyas.
Garbha griha is in a cave or scooped out of a monolithic rock. Apart from Murugan and Devasena, the Garbha griha houses beautifully sculpted deities of Shiva, Vishnu, Durga, and Vinayagar.
The Temple was expanded by Vijayanagara rulers and Nayaks with addition of grand mandapams, exquisitely carved pillars, praakarams and gopurams.
An amazing Temple! One of its kind.
