Thiruvapudaiyar Temple, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, is located 1.5 km north of Meenakshi Amman Temple.
Located on the banks of Vaigai river, this ancient Shiva temple represents Appu (Water) among the Pancha Bhuta Sthalams of Madurai.
Revered as one of the Paadal Petra Sthalams, sung by Tirugnanasambandar in 7th century CE, the current structure was built during early Pandya times, later renovated and expanded by Nayaks.
