Nelakondapalli Buddha Stupa is located 22 Km south-west of Khammam, Telengana.
It’s a historic monument dating back to 3rd Century CE.
The Stupa is quite imposing at 46 feet height and whopping 170 feet diameter!
The calm, serene locale on the banks of Balasamudram lake transports one to a totally different frequency.
The place referred to as Virataraja Dibba is said to be contemporaneous with certain events in Mahabharata, earlier to the construction of Stupa.
Nelakondapalli known as Nelicinda in olden times had a history of making and exporting Buddha statues and panchaloha idols.
Thanks to the archaeology department for restoring the relics back in to shape.
