The ancient Guptakashi temple is located at an elevation of 4,300 ft in the Garhwal Himalayas, 45 km north of Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand. The temple is ancient; said to be existing from the times of Dwaparayuga (5000+ years).
Built centuries ago in stone and wood, the architectural style is akin to temples in the region (such as Kedarnath). Guptakashi has the scenic backdrop of the snow-covered peaks of Chaukhamba and lush green forests of Mandakini valley.
The Manikarnika Kund (pond) in front of the temple has two perennial springs, representing rivers Bhagirathi (Ganges) and Yamuna.
Guptakashi precinct emanates a distinctive vibe!
