Karupuleeswarar (Shiva) Temple is located in Gudiyatham, Tamilnadu, 36 km west of Vellore.
The temple is ancient, said to be the abode of Koundinya Rishi. The river passing through the town is called Koundinya Nadhi.
The current structure was built by Cholas in 10th century CE, renovated and expanded later by Vijayanagara kings.
