Dehu in Maharashtra, situated 28 Kms north of Pune houses 3 temples dedicated to Sant Tukaram (1608 – 1650 CE), the great Maratha saint and poet.
Tukaram Maharaj Janm Sthan Temple – the place where Sant Tukaram was born and lived. This temple is said to have been built in 1723 CE.
Sant Tukaram Vaikunthsthan Temple – where Sant Tukaram is said to have ascended Vaikunth; there is a nice ghat behind this temple along the Indrayani river.
Sant Tukaram Maharaj Gatha Mandir – a modern structure with 4,000+ abhangs (songs) created by Sant Tukaram, carved on its walls.
Indrayani river that flows through Dehu (and these temple precincts) adds an enchanting touch to this place!
