Talakadu – also known as Dalavanapura, located 45 Km from Mysore and 136 Km from Bangalore – has history dating back to 250 CE.
It’s a miracle that Talakadu has vast expanses of sand! To such an extent that most of the temples here numbering around 30 lay buried in sand!
A few have been successfully excavated and available for us to admire. Amongst them, Vaidyeshwara temple and Keerti Narayana temple are marvels – richly ornate with carvings.
The Panchalinga darshana festival held every 12 years (last one held in 2009) is revered.
River Cauveri here has a ‘beach’. A quaint place – a wonder!
