Buddhavanam, Telangana, is located 10 km north of Nagarjuna Sagar Dam.
Nagarjuna Sagar was earlier known as Nagarjuna Konda, Sriparvata, Vijayapuri over the years and once served as capital city of the Ikshvaku dynasty during 3rd century CE.
The large Buddhavanam has a Stupa at the centre, built according to the dimensions and architecture of the ancient Amararama Stupa that once stood at Nagarjuna Konda.
The complex contains 40 Jataka stories carved in sandstone, a Stupa vanam that displays miniature stupas from the Buddhist sites of India and South-East Asian countries, and a Buddha statue gifted by Sri Lanka.
