Omkareshwara Temple situated in Madikeri, Coorg, Karnataka, is a peculiar Siva temple built in 1741 CE by king Lingarajendra II.
The temple structure is a mix of Gothic and Islamic styles – with the main temple comprising of a large central dome with four minarets at four corners.
The Shivalingam is said to have been brought from Kashi (Varanasi). The large water tank in front of the temple has a mantapa (hall) in the middle, with an approach walkway.
A fascinating place in the middle of the town!
