Nalknad palace, located near Kakkabe at the foot of Tadiandamol peak, 35 Km southwest of Madikeri, Karnataka was built in 1794 CE by king Dodda Veerarajendra .
The palace is replete with elaborate wood carvings, mural paintings, ornamental pillars and decorated verandahs.
Located in pristine woods, the palace functioned as an effective sanctuary for the king to successfully deal with the circumstances of those times and fend off adversaries.
