Chokkanatha Swamy temple, Domlur, Bengaluru is built in 10th century CE, by Chola kings.
A number of Tamil inscriptions available here right from the year 1200 CE refer to Domlur as Tombalur and Tommallur.
Inscription from the Hoysala times dating around 1300 CE indicates sanctioning of funds for local festival.
The temple is said to have been here from ancient times. It’s heartening to see that the temple compound has by and large survived the intense urbanisation all around.
A historic place – right in the midst of the city!
