Belagavi

Kamal Basadi is located inside Belagavi (Belgaum) Fort, in the city of Belagavi, Karnataka.

Built around 12th Century CE in Chalukyan style, the Basadi houses Neminatha idol. The polished pillars inside are made of black basalt stones.

Mukhamantapa (main hall) of the Kamal Basadi is very impressive with an intricate lotus carving projecting from the ceiling.

Ramakrishna mutt is located nearby within the Fort; The house where Swami Vivekananda stayed over for a few days in 1892 is well preserved.

Kamal Basadi is a discreet gem!
