Chennakeshava Temple at Nagalapura is located 50 km north-west of Kunigal, and 120 km west of Bengaluru.
Built in 1260 CE by Hoysala kings, this Ekakuta (single shrined) temple is heavily ornamented – with lathe-turned pillars, exquisitely carved navarangas and elaborately sculpted outer walls.
The shikhara (tower) and Maha mantapa seems to have either fallen or destroyed completely.
