Guru Nanak Jhira Sahib, Bidar, Karnataka, dedicated to the Sikh guru Guru Nanak, is built in the year 1948. Bidar is also the home town of Bhai Sahib Singh, one of the Panj Pyare (five beloved ones).
During the second tour of south India between 1510-1514 CE, Guru Nanak arrived in Bidar accompanied by his companion Mardana.
Guru is said to have been moved by the acute water shortage faced by the people and created a spring called Amrit kund – and hence the name Guru Nanak Jhira (stream).
Replete with Darbar Sahib, Diwan hall, Langar hall, Sukhaasan room and Likhari Room, the complex exudes divinity!
