Sri Garbarakshambigai Amman temple is located in Thirukarukavur, Tamilnadu, 26 km north-east of Thanjavur.
The current structure was built in 7th century CE by Cholas. This ancient temple dedicated to Sri Mullaivananathar and Sri Garbarakshambigai Amman.
The temple has been referred to in Thevaram. Appar, Sundarar and Sambandhar, the three famous Nayanmaars have celebrated the glory of this temple in an elaborate manner.
The temple is located on the banks of Vennaru river (a branch of river Cauvery). The other water bodies associated with the temple are Ksheerakundam (Palkulam), Sathyakupam (a well) and Brahma Theertham (the temple tank).
