Patteeswarar Swamy (Shiva) Temple, Perur, Tamilnadu is located 8 km west of Coimbatore.
Garbhagriha was built by Karikala Chola in 2nd Century CE. Expansions and renovations were carried out by Cholas, Vijayanagara kings and Nayaks of Madurai in later years.
The temple, located on the bank of the Noyyal River, has been praised by devotees such as Arunagirinathar and Sundarar (in Thevaram, 8th century CE).
During the rule of Raja Raja Chola I (10th century CE) Ardha Mantapa and Maha Mantapa were added. The Kanaka Sabhai was built by Alagadri Nayak of Madurai in the 17th century.
