Ramalayam temple, Penukonda, Andhra Pradesh, is located 76 km south of Anantapur and 141 km north of Bengaluru.
Penukonda was the second (summer) capital of Vijayanagara Kings. Built during early 15th century CE in Vijayanagara style, the Maha Mandapa is replete with highly decorated pillars.
The outer walls are ornate with carvings and sculptures depicting different puranic incidents. A well decorated and tall Mahasthamba welcomes us at the entrance.
