Nizamabad Fort, located 175 km north of Hyderabad, Telangana, houses the Quila Raghunath temple and an erstwhile prison.
Built in 10th century CE by Rashtrakuta kings, the fort was occupied and renovated by Kakatiyas. Later it came under Allauddin Khilji, Bahamanis, Qutub Shahis, Marathas and Mughals.
The Fort encompasses the hillock on top of which Quila Raghunath temple is situated.
Raghunath temple has spacious halls, and the place where Samarth Ramdas (Guru of Chatrapati Shivaji) used to meditate.
An enchanting place indeed!
