Penukonda - Muktheswara Temple

Penukonda – Muktheswara

Muktheswara temple, Penukonda fort, located 76 km south of Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, and 141 km north of Bengaluru, is an ancient temple.

Situated at one end of the fortification, certain features indicate the current structure was built during Vijayanagara times (15th Century CE).

Though a sound base exists, the Gopuram seems to have been destroyed / dilapidated.

The place is rustic. There are a few more attractions nearby such as Gagan Mahal, Ramalayam, Kashi Viswanatha temple, Ajithanatha Jain temple, and a couple of step-wells.
