Penukonda – Viswanatha

Kashi Viswanatha temple, Penukonda fort, Andhra Pradesh, located 76 km south of Anantapur and 141 km north of Bengaluru, is built in Vijayanagara style, around 15th Century CE.

Located inside the fort premises, the temple has an ornate outer wall with motifs and sculptures depicting events from Puranas.
The Penukonda (hill) provides a fitting backdrop to this wonderful temple. The precinct has a Rama temple, Gagan Mahal, and an elaborate step-well too.
