Lakshmi Narasimha temple at Nuggehalli, Karnataka, is located 20 km north-east of Channarayapatna.
A standing testimony to amazing Hoysala architecture, the temple was built in 1246 CE during the rule of King Vira Someshwara.
The Trikuta temple is highly ornate. Exquisitely carved sculptures adorn the outer walls with two eaves all around, in line with the later Hoysala style. Shikhara is richly decorated and intact.
The Chloritic Schist (soapstone) works are attributed to two great shilpis of those times – Baichoja and Mallitamma.
An amazing piece of antiquity!
