The India Gate is a war memorial located in Rajpath, New Delhi. It was established in the year 1931 in memory of soldiers who died in first word war (1914-18).
The 138 foot tall gate carries the names of 13,218 soldiers, including some from the United Kingdom.
The Amar Jawan Jyoti (Flame of the Immortal Soldier) was established in the Gate on 26 January 1972 to commemorate the Indian soldiers martyred in the war of Bangladesh liberation in 1971.
