Kotilingeshwara Temple is located 30 km south-east of Kolar, Karnataka, and 97 km east of Bengaluru.
There are thousands of Shivalingas of varied sizes spread across the area. One of them is 33 meters tall with an accompanying Nandi that is 11 meters tall.
The place was known as Dharmasthali in ancient times. Bhaktha Manjunatha (788 – 827 CE), along with Maharaja Ambikeshwaravarma under Rashtrakuta kings, is said to have consecrated many Shivalingas here. The current structures were established in the year 1980.
