The Brahmeshvara temple, Kikkeri, Karnataka, located 18 km south of Channarayapattana is a fine specimen of 12th Century CE Hoysala architecture.
Built in 1171 CE, this Ekakuta temple has Garbhagriha, Sukanasi and Navaranga to which Nandi mantapa is attached. Temple also has the Shikhara (Gopura) with exquisite designs and mythological figures.
It’s highly ornate and heavily decorated. The lathe turned pillars and sculptures adore the Mandapas and walls. It’s the detailing that’s amazing.
The lake in front of the temple is enchanting!
