Khammam Fort, located on Stambadri hill, Khammam, Telangana, 195 km east of Hyderabad, was built between years 950 – 1005 CE by Kakatiya rulers.
Spread over 10 sq kms, the fort served as a secure citadel during various regimes for over 1000 years.
The fort with 10 entrance gates had capacity to mount 60 large cannons in different directions. Also had a well-designed rainwater harvesting and management system.
