Keladi Rameshwara temple, Karnataka, located 8 km north of Sagara, was built in early 16th Century CE, during the times of Chowdappa Nayaka (1499-1513 CE).
Keladi was once the capital of Keladi Nayaka rulers. The temple has three main shrines – Rameshwara, Parvati and Veerabhadra.
The temple is highly ornate with decorated pillars, ceilings and internal walls. The exquisite ceiling patterns are stunning, and no two panels look the same!
Some of the incredible sculptures and carvings include nine Planets, Nagamandala, Daksha, Vastu Purusha, Gandaberunda (two-headed bird, the emblem of KSRTC), that showcase the exemplary artistry skills of those times.
