Horsley Hills

Horsley Hills

Horsley hills – also known as Horsley konda and Yenugu Mallamma Konda  – is situated 150 km north-east of Bangalore and 27 Km north-west of Madanapalle, Andhrapradesh, at an elevation of 4200 feet.

William Horsley (1834-1899), a British collector, built his home here around 1870 after whom it is named.

Several view-points dotted around the hill offer panoramic view of surrounding hillocks, valleys, ravines, farm lands and forests. Gali banda (windy rock) is one of the prominent view-points where strong winds keep blowing round the clock.

These hills are well vegetated with cooler climate; and home to wildlife such as Sambar deer, wild Boar, and sloth bear  with more than 130 species of birds.

A tranquil place. Worth a visit.
