Garhwal Himalayas, located in Uttarakhand, is a mountainous region, part of Sivalik hills of the Himalayas.
The hills are scenic and beautiful; with a variety of flora and fauna consisting of flowering plants, medicinal plants, forests, pine trees, Deodar and a range of wildlife.
Uttarakhand has more than 200 peaks exceeding 6,000 m (20,000 ft) elevation! Many of the peaks are un-climbed, and many yet to be named.
Being one of the youngest mountain ranges in the world, Himalayas has many of the planet’s highest peaks, including the highest, Mt Everest. Himalayas accounts for more than 50 peaks exceeding 7,200 m (24,000 ft) in elevation.
Himalayas contain the third-largest deposit of ice and snow in the world (after Antarctica and the Arctic region) with 15,000 + glaciers, that store about 12,000 Cubic km of fresh water.
