Trichy - Ucchi Pillayar Temple

Trichy – Ucchi Pillayar

Ucchi Pillayar (Ganesha) Temple is located on top of Rock Fort in Thiruchirapalli (Trichy), Tamil Nadu.

Built by Pallavas in early 7th century CE, and renovated, expanded by Nayaks of Madurai during Vijayanagara times, this rock cut temple is an architectural wonder.

400+ steps lead us to the top of Malaikottai (rock fort), a rock formation that is 3.8 billion years old!

The temple provides a stunning view of Trichy, Srirangam and the rivers Kaveri and Kollidam.

A couple of cave temples cut during Pallava times (early 7th century CE) is an added attraction.
