Marikamba Temple in Sirsi, Karnataka, is built in 1688 CE.
Dedicated to a form of goddess Durga, it’s also known as Doddamma Temple, symbolising Marikamba as the elder sister of all Mariammas in Karnataka.
The temple is decorated with Kaavi art on both the sides of its walls.
The 7-foot-tall deity is said to have been retrieved from a pond on Sirsi – Hanagal road.
Marikamba jaatre (chariot procession) is held every alternate year, in the month of February.
