Rangasthala Ranganatha temple, located 65 km north of Bengaluru, and 5 km north-west of Chikkaballapura, Karnataka is an ancient one – said to be established during Ramayana times.
The Ranganatha temple here, the Ranganatha temple at Sri Rangapatnam (near Mysore) and the Ranganatha temple at Srirangam, Tamilnadu are said to have been consecrated at the same time, same day.
The temple as we see today is built during Vijayanagara times around 600 years ago. The deity is made of Eka-shila Salagrama.
One could also visit M Vishweshwarayya (1861-1962) memorial at Muddenahalli, that’s 9 km south of Rangasthala.
