Krishnapuram Palace – located ~ 50 Kms from Alappuzha and 3 Kms from Kayamkulam, Kerala – was built in the 18th Century by Raja Marthanda Varma (1705 -1758 CE).
The palace that functions as a museum is in great shape, thanks to State Archaeological Department. Among the exhibits, a distinctly placed mural painting Gajendra Moksham at 154 square feet (14.3 sqm) is said to be the largest in Kerala.
Krishnapuram Palace is one of the finest examples of Kerala architecture; Built as a Pathinarukettu with 4 Nadumuttams, it’s replete with gabled roofs and dormer windows – And fresh air circulation and natural lighting in all 22 rooms!
