Kollur Mookambika Temple is located at Kollur, 75 km north of Udupi, Karnataka.
Established by Shri Adi Shankara (788 CE – 820 CE), it was expanded and renovated in 17th century CE during the reign of Keladi kings.
Kollur is scenic situated on the banks of Souparnika river, in the foothills of Kodachadri hills. The main deity of the temple is a swayambhu (self-born) linga, the left half representing three Tridevis and the right half representing Trimurtis.
The Kollur Kshethram is referred to in Skanda Puranam. The place was known as Kolapura since Kola Maharshi had meditated here, later came to be known as Kollur.
