Someshwara temple located in Kolar, Karnataka was built in the 11th Century CE by the Cholas. The temple was later expanded by the Vijayanagara kings.
Large numbers of highly ornate pillars adorn the Mukha mandapa. The temple also has a heavily decorated Kalyana Mantapa.
Carvings on the pillars have traces of European, Chinese and Thai lifestyles, highlighting the international trade and connections that existed in those times.
