Kalasa, located 86 km west of Chikmagaluru, Karnataka houses Kalaseshwara Temple dedicated to Shiva.
Situated on the banks of river Bhadra, this ancient temple has references to it in Skanda Purana.
The temple has inscriptions from the year 1154 CE. The current Garbhagriha is said to have been built by Vidharba king Shrutha Bindu, with modifications done in 16th century CE by Keladi Nayakas.
Kalasa is a picturesque place – in the heart of western ghats.
