Kothandaramaswamy temple is situated in an island off Dhanushkoti road, 10 km south-east of Rameshwaram.
Rama is said to have performed the Pattabhishekam (coronation) for Vibhishana at this island, surrounded by Bay of Bengal and Gulf of Mannar. The temple is built centuries back.
This temple is the only historical structure that survived 1964 cyclone and floods that washed away Dhanushkodi.
An overwhelming place – One gets transported to a different era!
