Hampi - Narasimha Temple

Hampi – Narasimha Temple

Narasimha Temple is located on the slope of Gandhamadhana hill, on the right bank of Tungabhadra at Hampi, Karnataka. At times it’s also referred to as the Jain temple.

A flight of steps from the walking trail – that connects east-end of Hampi Bazaar to the Vittalaraya Temple – takes one to the temple courtyard. It’s near Sugriva cave.

There are no deities inside now. A band of floral motif at a height runs around the outer wall, above which there are carvings, including that of Hanuman, Garuda and elephant.

The stepped, pyramidal roof above Garbhagriha makes it look more like a Jain Temple, similar to the ones in Hemakuta hill.

There is a two storied gateway at the rear side.
