Alampur, Telengana, located 25 kms north-east of Kurnool, is a treasure trove of Chalukyan architecture!
Sangameswara temple was built in 6th century CE in Kudavalli at the sangam (confluence) of Thungabhadra and Krishna rivers.
When Srisailam Dam waters were about to submerge the temple, it was relocated and reassembled at the current location in Alampur in the 1970s.
The highly ornate temple with sculptures and carvings with immaculate attention to details is mind-boggling!
