Moole Shankareshvara temple, Turuvekere, Karnataka is located 71 km south-west of Tumakuru.
The temple was built around 1260 CE during the reign of the Hoysala King Narasimha III.
The temple has all the elements of a typical Hoysala temple – Shikhara (Tower), Sukhanasi (vestibule), Maha mantapa, Mukha mantapa, with ornamented inner and outer walls.
The Maha Sthamba is imposing. The lake nearby adds to the serenity of this great temple.
