Loch Ard gorge – Located 4 km north-west of the famous 12 Apostles on the Great Ocean road, Loch Ard Gorge is part of Port Campbell National Park, Victoria, Australia.
The gorge is named after the clipper ship Loch Ard that ran aground here on 1st June 1878, approaching the end of a three-month journey from England to Melbourne. Of the fifty-four passengers and crew, only two survived.
Stairs allow visitors access the beach down below. A pathway on top allows access to the eastern side look out.
With interesting formations and fragile rock-faces, Loch Ard gorge is worth a visit while on Great Ocean drive!
