The Shree Ambabai Mahalakshmi Temple, Maharashtra, is located in Kolhapur.
Revered as an important Shakti sthalas, the Temple was built in 7th century CE by Chalukya king Karandev. It was renovated and modified by later rulers including Yadavas.
The temple is noted for its strong stone construction, intricate carvings, sculptural details, and a style often described as Hemadpanti.
One of the unique features is the Kirnotsav, when the rays of the setting sun enter the Garbhagriha and fall directly on the deity on 3 specific days, twice a year.
