Panchakuta Basadi, Kambadahalli, Karnataka is located 16 km west of Nagamangala and 19 km east of Shravanabelagola.
Built by the kings of the Western Ganga Dynasty in 9th century CE, the temples are in Trikuta (3 shrines) and Dwikuta (2 shrines) combinations with Chalukya – Pallava architectural influences.
Each of the three shrines has individual vestibules that open to a common navaranga (hall) supported by lathe-turned, ornate pillars. The design speaks of the artistic taste, and dimensional, arithmetic mastery of the builders!
All shrines have Thirthankara statues in sitting posture; the temple also has beautiful sculptures of Jaina Yakshas and Yakshis of Ganga, Hoysala periods.
The Manasthamba is 50 feet tall; the complex also has the Shantinatha Basadi with 12 feet standing statue of Shantinatha.
Even after a 1000 years, these captivating piece of art is intact!
