Inscribed Vishnu Temple is located behind the Vittala temple complex, on the south bank of river Tungabhadra.
There are numerous inscriptions, carved on stone, on the inner and outer walls of the Temple; leading to the Temple being called Inscribed Vishnu Temple.
Built in typical Vijayanagara style, the Temple is said to be dedicated to Tirumangai Alvar, an 8th century saint.
