Edupayala Durga Bhavani temple, located 20 km south-west of Medak, Telangana, is built in 12th Century CE.
Edupayala, meaning 7 streams in Telugu, is formed by river Manjeera that flows as seven streams confluencing at this place. Interestingly, the seven streams are named after seven ancient sages – Jamadagni, Atri, Kasyapa, Viswamitra, Vasistha, Bharadwaja and Gowtama.
The temple usually becomes inaccessible during peak monsoon, and is famous for Jatara, a three-day festival celebrated during Shivaratri.
There’s an Yellamma temple too, on top of the hill behind the main temple.
