Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta (hill) located 20 km south-west of Gundlupete and 78 km south of Mysore, Karnataka, houses Gopalaswamy temple at a height of 4,800 feet above MSL.
It’s in the core area of the Bandipur National Park, frequented by wild life. It’s also the highest peak in Bandipur National Park.
The temple built in 1315 CE by Hoysala King Ballala is in good shape. Legend has it that sage Agastya performed penance here.
It’s greenery all-around; and sunflower fields enroute adds splendour.
