The Alappuzha Lighthouse is located in Alappuzha, Kerala.
Built in 1862 during the reign of Thiruvithamkur Kings, the lighthouse is 27 meter tall, with a geographic range of 27 kms.
One could climb to the top of the lighthouse through a wooden spiral staircase. The first equipment installed in 1862, a coconut-oil-fed double wick light-source, continued in service for 90 years until 1952. Now it has a sophisticated electrical equipment.
Views from the top of the lighthouse are breath-taking.
