Kanchipuram – Maakaaleswarar

Sri Maakaaleswarar Temple, Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, is located between Sri Kamakshi Amman Temple and Sri Adhi Kamakshi Amman Temple.

The Temple is ancient – the serpent named Maakaalan is supposed to have worshipped Lord Shiva here. The temple is recognized as one of the 108 significant Shiva shrines mentioned in the Kanchi Puranam.

A notable feature of the temple is the presence Navagraha Temples around the Garbhagriha.
